I got this notification today.

Five Minute Observations has reached 1,000 likes.

I realize 1,000 isn’t exactly viral and it’s not going to break the internet. But somewhere along the way, 1,000 times, somebody read something I wrote and clicked that like button.

It connected with them.

I think that’s pretty cool.

I’ve written more than 700 of these observations now. Stories about grief and grace. Friendship and faith. People I’ve met. Things I’ve royally screwed up. Things I’m still struggling to understand. Mostly, I’m trying to pay attention to ordinary moments that turn out to be not so ordinary after all.

And you continue reading them.
