She was just a kid – but she didn’t wait.

“Hold on!”

Diving toward the edge of the swelling creek Hanna grabs ahold of her little brother’s wrist. One second Marcus is laughing, playing along the edge of the swollen creek.

Then he’s neck-deep in water. Hanna shouts, “I got you!”

Marcus sputtering and kicking is scared she will. Clenching her teeth Hanna pulls him up the bank.

“Don’t let go!”

Hanna refuses to quit.

Not her brother.

Not today.

Dragging him through the mud Marcus gasps for breath.

“See? I told you. I’ll always show up.”

When the waters rise and the moment matters, who shows up?

Be the one who reaches out. The one who refuses to let go. The one who pulls others to safety when it would be easier to walk away.

Hanna didn’t wait for someone else—she moved.

What about you?

In your work, your community, your story—someone’s counting on you to show up.

So dig in. Grab hold. And don’t let go.

Because today, someone needs your strength.

Show up. Start now.

How are you showing up? Let me know in the comments.
